Mini-Review: Bettie Page Unbound #6
I just jumped into the Bettie Page: Unbound series via Dynamite on this issue but with the great writing of David Avallone, I can sense what’s going on. With issue #6, it does start a whole new arc of the story. In a quick Twitter exchange between me and Avallone, he did tell me to pick up the previous issues because there might be a few things that might still be a bit of head-scratcher if I had not read the previous issues. Since then, I have bought issues #1-2 and will read them soon, but in the mean time, back to #6!
Set in 1953 when a lot of a fear was sold to Americans about Communism and Aliens, and how it could be coming from their own people, so that’s a big part of Bettie’s adventure! A lot of questions and betrayal start with this issue! Is Bettie stuck between a rock and hard place? Does she have any allies? Is there anyone she can trust?
And can we talk about this cover artwork by John Royle & Sebastian Cheng with Bettie Page laying in the bed of flowers? How incredible is this? I just want a huge poster of that cover art to frame and put on my wall!
