This week’s guest is Sadie Dupuis of the band Speedy Ortiz. Recently, Speedy Ortiz released their third album Twerp Verse via Carpark Records. During our interview, we talked about how they scrapped the original plans for their third album in response to things going on in society, along with the struggles of basically being self-employed as a musician and the influence that comic books had on her upbringing and the band.
The band will be playing hear in Detroit on Sunday, 5/13 at the El Club w/ Nnamdi Ogbonnaya & Didi. For more information on show times and to purchase tickets, go to elclubdetroit.com/.

This week’s pick is the new album from Detroit hip-hop artist Chris Orrick titled Portraits via Mello Music Group. Orrick, who was formerly known as Red Pill and already has a great catalog of work, really outdid himself with Portraits and is a voice for the blue-collar, everyday, working person in our society. Through the production of the likes of Nolan The Ninja, Onra, Apollo Brown, and other, Orrick literally is able to use his well-articulated words to paint these stripped down portraits of who he and what he believes in through each song. For more information on the new album, visit Chris Orrick’s Bandcamp page at chrisorrickraps.bandcamp.com.
