The Pharcyde and Pete Rock brought the true essence of hip-hop to the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit

This was the first time seeing The Pharcyde live and they were simply incredible. After all these years, even though it was 3/4th of the original lineup with Imani, Slimkid3, and Fatlip (no Bootie Brown), they are still arguably one of the greatest hip-hop groups of all time. The chemistry of the three on stage is unmatched as they flawlessly went through their classic discography.

Pete Rock hit us with a DJ set going through his production classics. There’s something about Pete Rock produced songs that sound sonically amazing to another degree when played through a venue system. Even one of my closest friends, Detroit hip-hop artist Vstylez, joined him on stage to perform his Pete Rock produced song “Detropolis”!

The photo gallery below from The Pharcyde and Pete Rock show at the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit on May 27th beautifully encapsulates the essence of a memorable night in hip-hop history. It showcases the talent, energy, and camaraderie that define these legendary artists, while also capturing the passion and enthusiasm of the crowd. Through these images, we are reminded of the enduring power of music to unite, inspire, and create lasting memories.
